The state of North Carolina opted to pass 85% of the state’s opioid settlement funds directly to counties and municipalities to fund local interventions.

The Caswell County Opioid Settlement Committee (OSC) is charged with reviewing county opioid-related data and identifying evidence-based, high-impact strategies from a pre-approved list of interventions shown to decrease opioid deaths, reduce opioid addiction, and reduce harm caused by addiction. The OSC presents recommendations to county commissioners who then decide how to spend the funds. The committee is comprised of local experts who deal with the fallout of opioid addictions - healthcare providers, EMS, law enforcement, Social Services – along with representatives from local government and the community college.
