The Dabbs family and Southern Caswell Ruritan are hosting a Blood Drive for the American Red Cross on Thursday, January 29 in memory of Tony Dabbs, who passed away July 3, 2025.

Tony was a key leader in the community, dedicating himself to the service of others.

His obituary notes, "He was instrumental in the development of the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter, EMT, and treasurer. He was the backbone to every stew & BBQ fundraiser. He was voted firefighter of the year in 1987 and 1988. He was a committed and dedicated member of the Southern Caswell Ruritan for 49 years. He served in the district Ruritan and held many positions. He led the blood mobiles and was the lead cook for many Ham and Egg suppers. His dedication to the Ruritan mission reflected his deep commitment to the community service and fellowship.

Tony was a faithful member of Oakview Church. He held the position of elder, deacon, and served as chairman of the board. He was involved in the Special Olympics, coached his girls softball teams, helped with elections where he was a head judge of a voting precinct, and was a substitute bus driver for several years."

Tony also took great joy in making sure Santa Claus always made an appearance in the Yanceyville Christmas parade.

His wife of 44 years, Teresa Dabbs, and other family members were often seen by Tony's side throughout his years of service. They are carrying on that tradition of service and hope you will choose to donate blood at the January 29th Blood Drive in his memory.

You can schedule an appointment online at www.RedCrossBlood.org or through the Blood Donor App with sponsor code [Caswell Ruritan] or by calling Teresa at 336-694-3451.
