Caring for Caswell's Youth
Education Summit to connect people who care about kids, families, and educators to explore collaborative approaches.
Everyone is worried about the kids in Caswell, including the kids in Caswell.
The concerns are echoed in every room - test scores, grade-level proficiency, student safety, behavior issues, spending, recruitment & retention, access to opportunity, etc. However, the conversations happening in those rooms often look very different.
"They don't care about those kids!"
That statement gets thrown around a lot. It is said of the teachers, administration, school board, commissioners, state government, federal government, the community, the parents. It is even sometimes said of the students themselves.
The Education Collaborative is rooted in the belief that Caswell County, as a community, does in fact care deeply about its children and their futures.
Their consensus statement reads:
"We are neighbors with different backgrounds and experiences interested in creating an environment where:
• Caswell children and youth learn and grow into their full potential,
• Caswell families are supported, and
• Caswell educators and school staff are valued.
Educational attainment is key to being prepared for the future.
Engaged communities play a role in learning by expanding opportunities, assisting parents, and supporting educators."
Their 2023 Vision Plan lays out an asset-based approach and framework for stakeholders to work together in "creating an environment where our children can learn and grow into their full potential."
They invite others to join them on Saturday, February 7, 2025, 10am - noon for an Education Summit at the Caswell County Civic Center.
"Your voice matters to us, and we would love for you to be a part of this special event," they offer in invitation. "Whether you’re joining us to reflect on the year or to help shape what’s next, your presence will make a difference."
The February 7th Education Summit is free to attend but registration is required. Click THIS LINK to register or call (434) 799-2176.
