Caswell County Mourns Deputy

Caswell County's Public Safety departments are mourning the loss of one of their own.

According to the Caswell Country Sheriff's Office (CCSO), one of their deputies, Corporal Chandler Clayton, passed away March 14 from complications of an unknown illness.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden passing of Corporal Clayton," the CCSO said in a press release.

The release described Corporal Clayton as "a young man who was dedicated to serving his community and had a promising future ahead of him."

"We're sending love, support, and our deepest condolences to his family as they navigate this challenging time," the release continued.

"Those who choose a life of public service accept the responsibility of standing in difficult places for the sake of others, and Chandler carried that responsibility while serving the people of Caswell County," began a social media post from Caswell County Government.

"Through his work in this community, Chandler became more than someone wearing a uniform," the post continued."He was a familiar voice on the radio, a trusted partner on calls, and a friend to many across the public safety family that serves this county. The work of public safety creates bonds that run deep, and his absence will be felt by many who worked alongside him."

The post concluded, "Caswell County Government stands in full support of the Caswell County Sheriff’s Office during this time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chandler’s family, his friends, the men and women who worked beside him, and the many public safety agencies who are grieving alongside them. His service to this county and the relationships he built will not be forgotten."
