Caswell Students Eligible for JT-Minnie Maude Scholarships
Application deadline March 1 for JTMM scholarships.
Since their inception in 2007, the JT-Minnie Maude Charitable Trust (JTMM) has awarded over $18 million in scholarships to students in the greater Danville, VA region!
For new applicants and current awardees seeking to renew, they invite you to review the information below for scholarship qualifications, up-to-date guidelines, and other important details to ensure your application is completed and reviewed in a timely manner.
SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
JTMM seeks to support a broad spectrum of applicants in pursuit of a college education at an accredited, post-secondary institution located in the U.S. seeking:
- an associate or bachelor’s degree, or
- a Trade School diploma or certificate, or
- a postgraduate degree (such as a master’s, PhD, MD, etc.)
Applicants are required to have lived in one of these locations for at least the past twelve consecutive months:
- Halifax, Henry, or Pittsylvania counties in VA, including towns and cities within, or
- Caswell or Rockingham counties in NC, including towns and cities within
Scholarships can only be awarded to US citizens

Awardee Selection
Recipients and award amounts are selected based on one or more of the following:
- Academic achievements
- Non-academic achievements
- Financial need
Documents Checklist
Our online application has been updated and streamlined. First-time applicants are encouraged to have the following documents ready for uploading before you apply:
- Official Transcript
- Most recent FAFSA Submission Summary
- Current resumé
- Personal essay (optional)
Deadline Dates
We have two deadline dates per year, the first of which is March 1st. Students who would like to have their scholarship sent to their school in advance of the Fall semester should target this date.
The second deadline date is August 1st. Students who would like to have their scholarship sent to their school in advance of the Spring semester should target this date.
Students who are enrolled in accelerated programs are encouraged to apply at the next available date.
Award Notification
All applicants will be notified in writing regardless of award status within three months of the application deadline date. If awarded, payments will be sent directly to your school in a timely manner.
Please note that your award letter will contain important information including further instructions on how to accept your award, to confirm which college you are attending, and how to notify your school’s financial aid office.
Renewal Awards
A unique aspect of our program is that JTMM scholarship awards are renewable! This means that, once awarded, you may continue to receive financial support from JTMM throughout your college career.
To renew your scholarship, awardees should complete a streamlined application each year using the same portal found below. Renewal applicants are encouraged to have the following documents ready for uploading before you apply:
- Official Transcript
- Most recent FAFSA Submission Summary

Application Portal
The JTMM application portal link is located below. First-time scholarship applicants should “create a new account” as an “Individual” using an active email address that will be checked often while attending college. Once created, you may “Sign in to your account” to access the portal. The application will be located under “Opportunities” on your dashboard.
