Commissioners Oppose Property Tax Authority Changes
Commissioners defend the power of local governments to set their own property tax rates and tend to routine business.
The Caswell County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a Resolution Opposing Modifications to County Property Tax Authority and handled several other routine business matters at their Monday, May 4 meeting.
Interim County Manager Melissa Williamson explained to the Board that the Resolution Opposing Modifications to County Property Tax Authority was a "formal stance taken by several North Carolina counties and spearheaded by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC), to protect the power of local governments to set their own property tax rates."
