Caswell County is home to the state's largest flowering Dogwood tree (Cornus Florida). Property owners and history buffs believe that is cause for celebration and hope such an event might also help fund a historic preservation project.

Sterling Carter, the 5th great grandnephew of Calvin Graves, also believes it is a fitting tribute to a man whose legacy he says has been largely overlooked, despite significant, lasting contributions to the state of North Carolina.
