Residents of Meadowview Apartments on NC Highway 86 in Yanceyville are organizing to push back against a new property owner that they suspect is looking to force them out of their homes. They are also scrambling to add their names to waiting lists for other affordable housing complexes if those efforts are unsuccessful.

Meadowview, a low-income apartment complex subsidized by the federal Housing and Urban Development Division (HUD), was sold to Venture Rentals on December 30, 2025. Residents now make their rental payments to East Wind Apartments LLC, which shares a Gastonia, North Carolina address with Venture Rentals but Meadowview resident, Jerry Orrell, says there has been no property management services available since early March.
