Nomination Period Opens for Caswell Athletic Hall of Fame

A group of community members have established the Caswell County Athletic Hall of Fame and are accepting nominations during the month of July.

Mel Battle, Lindsey Page, Mike Talbott, and Mitch Strader announced in March that they were working to establish the Caswell County Athletic Hall of Fame to recognize the County's athletes, coaches and supporters who have "made significant achievements in their chosen fields or professional series and made noteworthy contributions to society on a local, national, or international level." 

At that time, Battle secured permission from the Board of Education to house plaques honoring local Hall of Famers at the Lindsey Page Gymnasium at Bartlett Yancey High School. He explained to the Board that the project was dependent upon successful fundraising by the committee and would not require any school funds.

According to a letter recently sent by Battle on behalf of the committee, the Inaugural Banquet has been scheduled for October 3, 2026 at the Caswell County Civic Center.

Eligibility Criteria

• Nominees should have attended school in Caswell County or worked in the County at least ten years prior to nomination or be retired (still working part-time or volunteering is fine). 
• Nominees must demonstrate outstanding qualities of citizenship and leadership, and have made significant contributions to society

Ideal nominees are persons whose:

• actions demonstrate outstanding character
• outstanding citizenship has achieved local, national, or international recognition 
• leadership can inspire students in the pursuit of excellence
• accomplishments are outstanding or whose leadership is considered exceptional
