PCC Caswell County Campus Nursing Graduates Honored at Pinning Ceremony
Graduates from the second cohort of Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) Associate Degree Nursing Evening/Weekend program on the Caswell County Campus were honored at a pinning ceremony on December 12 at Roxboro Baptist Church.
The ceremony was a heartfelt moment of recognition for their dedication and success, shared with proud family members, friends, faculty and staff.
Addressing her fellow classmates, class representative Shelby Ramos Rodriguez reflected on their journey through nursing school and thanked their nursing instructors for preparing them to be successful nurses.
“Tonight, we stand here not just as graduates, but as the next set of nurses ready to care, ready to serve and ready to make a difference in the world,” Ramos Rodriguez said.
Darrick Woods, Dean/Director of Nursing Programs, acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the graduates.
“As you step into this profession, hold onto the compassion that brought you here, the grit that sustained you and the purpose that drives you,” Woods said. “Nursing is not just a career; it’s a calling – and you have answered that with grace, persistence and courage.”
Woods also presented the following awards:
- Jessica Revis – Bradford Nursing Legacy Scholarship, sponsored by LaTasha Bradford, Associate Degree Nursing program alumni
- Crystal Walker – Rowan Walters Scholarship
- Tori Martin – Nightingale Scholarship
- Christina Smith – Nightingale Scholarship
- Allison Bolling – Person Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship
- Kat Nardozzi – Person Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship
- Nneka Okehie – Nursing Values and Integrity Scholarship, sponsored by Janine Wall, retired PCC nursing faculty member
- Shelby Ramos Rodriguez – Nursing Values and Integrity Scholarship, sponsored by Janine Wall, retired PCC nursing faculty member
Each graduate was presented with a nursing pin, a symbol of their entry into the nursing profession. The pins were affixed to their white nursing uniforms by family members or faculty members in attendance. After receiving their pins they were presented with lamps, a symbol of the nursing heroine, Florence Nightingale. Once the lamps were lit the graduates recited the nursing pledge in unison led by nursing instructor Angel Rogers.
The Associate Degree Nursing graduates are as follows: Allison Bolling, Deja Davis, Okinawa Glanton, Tori Martin, Kat Nardozzi, Nneka Okehie, Jessica Revis, Shelby Ramos Rodriguez, Christina Smith and Crystal Walker.
The graduates will now have the opportunity to take the NCLEX, which is the final step for them to become registered nurses.
PCC’s Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to clients and groups of clients throughout the lifespan in a variety of settings.
