Questions Persist Over Available Funding for School Buildings
School Board and Commissioners agree they need to develop a better understanding of what funding sources were available for capital needs.
The primary focus of Monday's joint meeting between Caswell County's Board of Education and Board of Commissioners was the Needs Based Grant for Oakwood, but they also discussed other capital improvement needs and how that work gets funded.
Interim Superintendent Lance Stokes has previously reported to the Board of Education that the multiple projects funded by the $888,000 Capital Reserve fund appropriated by the Commissioners were totaling nearly $40,000 under original budget projections. Stokes is seeking approval to use those remaining funds to tackle some additional capital improvement needs at Bartlett Yancey High School's (BYHS) East Wing.
