Solid Waste Fees Set to Increase
Unfunded mandates and little control over contracted services said to contribute to increased expenses.
Caswell County's solid waste fees are set to increase with the adoption of the recommended budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027. The Solid Waste Management department's expenses are expected to increase by $186,040 in FY 2027.
Staff explained that most of that increase, approximately $118,000, stems from an unfunded state mandate related to water testing at the County's old landfill but also points to increased costs for contracted services as a primary factor for rising expenses.
