Tight County Budget Proposed
Proposed County budget maintains the current tax rate, and uses no fund balance for recurring expenses but cuts positions, provides no raises for county staff and increases solid waste fees.
During a special called meeting on Wednesday, May 27, Interim County Manager, Melissa Williamson presented the Caswell County Board of Commissioners with a a recommended $33.1 million budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027.
Williamson's recommended budget is $3.8 million less than the FY 2026 budget, maintains the current tax rate, and uses no fund balance for recurring expenses, but she warned that, "balanced does not mean comfortable."
