US 158 E Closed After Generator Tips Off Trailer During Transport
The stretch of road between NC 119 and Ridgeville Road will be closed to thru traffic for an extended period of time.
They say that "the third time is the charm," but that was not the case on Wednesday morning when a generator and its packing frame, weighing more than 750,000 lbs., slid off the trailer while being transported down US Highway 158 East on the morning of Wednesday, October 7.
According to Caswell's Emergency Management Coordinator Kenneth Everett, no one was hurt in the incident that occurred when the transport entered the s-curves just East of the NC Highway 119 intersection, but no one knows how long it will be before the road is reopened.
