Workshop to Help Farmers, Landowners, and Producers Learn More About NRCS Conservation and Financial Assistance Programs

This week's Ag Chat is offered by Anass Banna, Small Farms Agent.

Caswell County Cooperative Extension, in collaboration with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), is organizing a workshop to help farmers, landowners, and agricultural producers learn more about the conservation and financial assistance programs available through NRCS. During the workshop, NRCS specialists will explain the different programs, eligibility requirements, application process, and available opportunities. Participants will also have an opportunity to receive one-on-one assistance with getting started and applying for NRCS programs.

Some of the programs that will be discussed include the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), which provides financial and technical assistance to implement conservation practices such as cover crops, prescribed grazing, and high tunnels; the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), which supports producers who want to maintain and strengthen conservation practices across their operations; and the Regenerative Pilot Program, which supports producers interested in adopting whole-farm regenerative agriculture practices.         The workshop will also cover NRCS easement programs, including the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) and Wetlands Reserve Easements (WRE), which help protect and restore agricultural lands and wetlands. In addition, participants will learn about Conservation Technical Assistance (CTA), which provides science-based conservation planning and technical support
