Young Artists Celebrated in Caswell's Student Art Show

Caswell's young artists were eager to share their artwork with those gathered April 30.

Caswell County's student artists were celebrated by their families, peers, and the community during the county's 47th Annual Student Art Show on Thursday, April 30.

Jared Terrell, who teaches art at Bartlett Yancey High School and is a member of the Caswell Council Arts Council, hosted the event, sharing with those in attendance that he had participated in the show when he was a student.

"It's one of the things that kept me in school because I loved to create," Terrell said. "Art is a way to keep students engaged in learning."

Terrell explained that there were three art shows being held at Central Office - the student art show sponsored by the Caswell Council for the Arts that was open to all students in Caswell County and judged by area artist Bobbie Scheller; the Superintendent's Awards, which were restricted only to students enrolled in Caswell County School and judged by Interim Superintendent Lance Stokes; and, the Caswell County Homeschoolers, judged by Terrell.

Terrell noted that the judging had been "blind," meaning the names of the artists and schools had been hidden from all judges.
