The first day of school is about more than opening classroom doors. It is about welcoming students, reconnecting families, and ensuring that every child begins the year with a positive experience.
For Caswell County Schools Superintendent Lance Stokes, experiencing the first day of the 2026–2027 school year meant seeing the morning through the eyes of students — beginning with the bus ride to school.
On Monday morning, Superintendent Stokes boarded a school bus and traveled alongside students on one of the district’s newly implemented tiered transportation routes. The experience provided an opportunity to see firsthand how the new transportation model was working and, more importantly, to experience the start of the school day from a student's perspective.
