BYHS Students Promise to Come Home Safely After Prom

Engagement events like the one at BYHS on April 29 raises awareness of the dangers of impaired, or distracted driving.

Bartlett Yancey High School (BYHS) students received a visit on Wednesday from a group of people who want to make sure everyone makes it home safely after the Prom on Saturday night.

Ollie Jeffers, the volunteer leader of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) chapter that covers Caswell, Person, and Durham Counties worked closely with BYHS teacher, Anna Foster to coordinate this year's Prom Promise event.

Board Rejects Proposal to Reduce School Bus Ride Times Over Scheduling Concerns

The school district currently uses 21 buses to run 22 routes. The average ride time is nearly 109.9 minutes, just ten minutes shy of two hours. The tiered routing system proposed would use 22 buses to run 30 routes, reducing the average ride time to just over an hour, 67.67 minutes.
