The '25-'26 school year is winding down and everyone is celebrating the year's achievements.

Student athletes have gone to the State Championships. Middle school teams have gone undefeated. Local students have earned college admission and/or scholarships while some have already earned their Associate's Degree and others are going directly into the workforce or military.

Grant funding has been awarded and most of the county's schools have demonstrated growth in measures of performance and proficiency. Many of our teachers and administrators have been recognized at the state level for that growth.

And working quietly in the background, every day, are the cafeteria and custodial staff.

"These individuals work tirelessly each and every day to support our students and staff, and they truly deserve to be acknowledged for all they do," said Dee Carter, Interim Principal of Bartlett Yancey High School (BYHS).
