On Saturday, August 1, the parking lot at Bartlett Yancey High School’s (BYHS) Buccaneer Stadium was overflowing with BYHS alumni, friends, and sharp looking vehicles, all gathered there for a back-to-school cruise-in, hosted by Country Boyz Mustang Club

Chris Smith, a member of the club and 1995 graduate of BYHS, said the event will likely become an annual tradition for the club that formed two years ago.

“We’re not a typical car club,” he shared, explaining that there are no officers or strict membership rules. “We’re just a group of guys who all have families, jobs, and other hobbies. It started out as something to do on the weekends.”

Smith was quick to point out that even though he had served at the primary point of contact for the event on social media, it was a group effort.
