Caswell County Sheriff's Office Makes Drug Arrests Following Joint Task Force Operation

Investigators determined that the illegal operation allegedly targeted minors by marketing and selling THC vape products, illegal energy drinks, and THC-infused edibles, raising serious concerns regarding youth safety and public health within the community.

 On April 6, 2026, the Caswell County Sheriff's Office, in coordination with the FBI Task Force, ATF Task Force, and ANET Task Force, executed a search warrant at a residence located in Prospect Hill, North Carolina.

The search warrant was the result of an extensive undercover investigation into an illegal vape and THC distribution operation reportedly being conducted from the residence. During the execution of the warrant, deputies recovered approximately $200,000 worth of illegal narcotics, approximately $18,000 in U.S. currency, and multiple firearms.

As a result of the investigation, Caswell County Sheriffs Office deputies arrested:

  • David Howe, 46, of Mebane, NC
  • Emily Howe, 47, of Mebane, NC

Both individuals were charged with the following felony offenses:

  • Trafficking Marijuana
  • Trafficking Synthetic Cannabinoids
  • Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, and Deliver a Schedule I Controlled Substance
  • Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substances

In addition, David Howe was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

Emily Howe was released from the Caswell County Detention Center after posting a $75,000 secured bond. At the time of her release, David Howe remained in custody at the Caswell County Detention Center under no bond.

Sheriff Tony Durden praised the cooperation between agencies, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in addressing illegal drug activity.

"This successful operation was made possible through strong interagency collaboration," said Sheriff Durden. "We believe shutting down this operation will help reduce the number of THC-related overdoses impacting students in our area high schools."
