Coming Home: The Adventures and Escape of Moses Roper from American Slavery Saturday
One-act musical will be performed at 11am on Saturday.
An adaptation of Coming Home: The Adventures and Escape of Moses Roper from American Slavery, will be presented at the Gunn Memorial Public Library on Saturday, August 15 at 11am.
The one-act musical, written by Angela Upchurch, was originally performed at the Kirby Theater and Cultural Arts Complex in Roxboro, NC in 2024. This adaption features the full story, however with a limited cast of three performers: Anthony Hearn of Alton, Virginia; accompanist Mike Moose of Roxboro, NC; as well as Angela Upchurch. Hearn is a familiar face in Milton and Caswell County.
Moses Roper, the subject of the production, received a North Carolina Historical Marker in February, located at the intersection of Highway 57 and Highway 119 in Semora.
