Major Travel Delays in Caswell Over the Next Three Days
The new hydrogen-capable natural gas combined-cycle turbines will ultimately replace the coal-fired plants at both Hyco and Mayo lakes.
Caswell County drivers may face significant traffic delays beginning Thursday, September 17 as a second hydrogen-capable natural gas combined-cycle turbine weighing more than 600,000 tons is transported across the county to the Person County Energy Complex at Hyco Lake.
Duke Energy described the 3-day transport, which was initially scheduled to begin on Wednesday, as a "rolling roadblock" that will cause the most significant delays at bridge crossings, and provided the following planned travel route for the turbine, which will arrive in Ruffin by rail.
