Program Featuring Presbyterian History to commemorate America’s 250th in Milton
Lost Treasure Recovery will be on hand to display items they have found at the site.
In recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, Milton Renaissance Foundation will host a discussion on the role that Scots and the Scots-Irish, along with their Presbyterian faith, played in the American Revolution.
The program will be held Saturday, June 6, at 10:30, beginning at the Jean Bradsher Scott Renaissance Center. Following the introductory discussion, and lunch on your own, attendees will travel to Red House Presbyterian Church, Semora, to commemorate the work of the Reverend Hugh McAden, buried in the church cemetery. Following Reverend McAden’s death in 1781, British troops reportedly vandalized his grave and burned his papers. A surviving journal had served as a significant resource in NC history. At the time, England was known to refer to the conflict in the colonies as a “Presbyterian revolt.”
Lost Treasure Recovery will be on hand to display items they have found at the site.
The Jean Bradsher Scott Renaissance Center is located at 11928 Academy Street, Milton, NC.
