Photo courtesy of Lucindy Willis / It can be hard to get a photo of a good dog like Honey running to greet you. The fast trot and wagging tail tends to blur the image when you try to capture it on film, but it clearly remains etched on your mind, and your heart, for years to come.

I step outside and something catches in my heart. She isn’t there to wag her tail in an attempt to convince me it is time to head down to the lake.

Recently, I returned home from a late-night catering event and headed down my long driveway. No one was running up the drive with her gimp leg, tail wagging and barking: “She’s here!  She’s here! She came back after all!! Hurrah!! Hurrah!!"
