Lucindy and Dolly remind us that you can be professional and playful, shrewd and generous, outrageous and deeply serious. None of those things have to cancel out the others.
Celebrity passings rarely move me to write, but hers is different. A brilliant song writer, singer, actor, philanthropist, she lived fully, making everyone around her feel welcome. I never knew Dolly Parton. However something happened last night and this morning that made me feel compelled to write about her.
It began with Ashley's visit yesterday evening, before I even knew Parton was gone. She stopped by after work to taste a new recipe. We critiqued the dishes, talked about work, people, and the balancing act required to move through the world without losing ourselves.
