A Note on the Difference Between Outrage and Action
Outrage does nothing to protect our children from sexual predators.
Last week's story about a former BYHS football coach still facing charges in Caswell County after learning he will spend more than two years in a Virginia prison was shared far and wide, but the story about protecting Caswell's children from sexual predators did not receive nearly as much attention.
That bothers me and it should really bother you too.
Just as concerning is the community's response. Readers were certainly outraged, even horrified, by allegations that a former teacher and coach had engaged in sexual activity with a student, but many were not surprised.
