School District Budget Delayed
Contract approvals and a capital project priority list for the upcoming year.
The Caswell County Board of Education was informed on Monday, July 13 that it would likely be next week before they have a draft budget ready for review.
The Board passed a continuing budget resolution at its June 29 meeting to ensure continuity of operations as staff worked to complete a Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget based on the County budget adopted June 15, and the State budget, which was not released until June 30 and signed into law Tuesday, July 7.
Significant cuts to spending are expected as state staffing allotments have been reduced, and the Board of Education reduces its reliance on fund balance.
Meanwhile approximately $297,459 in contracts came before the Board for approval on Monday, including approximately $216,188 in insurance premiums. The remaining contracts were for HVAC preventative maintenance, custodial chemicals and supplies, software, web hosting, and membership in the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium.
